Jaka Remec is an up-and-coming Slovenian BMX freestyler from Ljubljana who’s been tearing up parks around the world since an early age.
Jaka Remec first got into the world of cycling at the age of seven, through one of the sport’s busiest gateways: BMX Racing.
Although the BMX racetrack has spawned elite athletes in most cycling disciplines, from MTB cross-country to the Tour de France, Jaka soon discovered his natural affinity for BMX in all its forms. After moving into freestyle and ripping up Dirt competitions everywhere as a junior, he finally settled on Park.
It was almost as if he knew his chosen discipline was about to be elevated to Olympic status. Although the event’s premiere in Tokyo came too soon – he was unable to collect qualification points until after he’d celebrated his 15th birthday – he’s aiming to be in prime form by the time the next one rolls around.
Jaka continues to travel around the world to compete and train, and is working with Austria’s Croatian-born BMX legend Senad Grosic to ensure he’s performing at the highest level.
The young Slovenian impressed Grosic from the word go. “Jaka is a brilliant and very energetic young man who keeps on learning and progressing incredibly,” he commented. “This man will one day rule the world of freestyle BMX.”
