140 international and national personalities from the world of sports accepted the invitation of art of excellence and Skillyard last weekend and met on Europe’s largest artificial standing surf wave in Ebensee.
Numerous athletes from action sports such as snowboarding, ski jumping, skateboarding and mountain biking traveled to Ebensee in order to test their sporting talents outside their core discipline by river surfing, in addition to exchanging ideas over a cozy barbecue. The participants had an exciting and fun surfing session including a competition on the ten meter wide and one and a half meter high wave.
Sara Marita Kramer, overall World Cup ski jumping winner 2021/22, was thrilled: “What a cool event that perfectly combines sport and fun. River surfing was a completely new sporting experience for me, which I was able to try out together with the other athletes. In any case, this will not have been my last experience on the board, as it is a welcome change for balance work away from the usual preparation for the next season.” The young, successful ÖSV athlete sums up, “The fun factor and togetherness were the focus today at the first ‘Out Of Office’ event. A great day with perfect weather, good food and nice people – I hope for a repeat next year.”
The pro MTB downhill team around Brook MacDonald (NZL) also traveled to Salzkammergut especially for the ‘Out Of Office’ debut. Brook took the opportunity to network and also tried his hand at the trendy sport. “I definitely feel more comfortable on the bike, but with these high summer temperatures, the ‘ride’ into the cool water was definitely a relief,” Brook sums up his river surfing debut.
He rounded off the day with lively discussions with fellow athletes and representatives from the business world – because partners such as BOA Technology, Blue Tomato, Foodspring and Sparkasse Salzkammergut were also on hand.
Another highlight of the day was the spectacular Trial Bike Show by 5-time Erzbergrodeos finisher and former Red Bull Romaniacs winner Dieter Rudolf.
DJ Harvey Miller kept the guests in a good mood with the right beats.
The corona pandemic has also changed the sports world a lot, but every crisis also awakens new ideas and opportunities. With art of excellence (brand partnerships and athlete management) and Skillyard (online coaching platform), new business models were created that respond to the changes and challenges with innovative offers.
With the first Get Together, national and international art of excellence athletes from various disciplines have been brought together at a business event that feels like a casual, fun outing with friends and at the same time offers the benefit of bringing athletes together with personalities and partners from the business world. Together with Skillyard, art of excellence has thus created the ideal “offline” counterpart to the digital level and set up a successful format.
A great day with perfect weather, good food and nice people - I hope for a repeat next year.
